The scientific framework offered by STAR is structured along seven thematic challenges, incorporating the research priorities (profile areas) at the University of Siegen. Project proposals proposed by candidates must in principle fit into at least one of these areas, within which they can develop their own research ideas (bottom-up approach). However, each researcher must find one or, if necessary, several supervisors to support the project and mentor him/her throughout the individual fellowship.
